Getting your trades in
Which trading platforms do you support?
TradingJournal is built for MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5). You can bring your trades in two ways: upload an MT4/MT5 HTML statement, or connect your account for automatic broker sync.
How do I import my trades from a file?
Export your trading history as an HTML statement from MT4 or MT5 and upload it on the Import page. TradingJournal automatically detects the platform and broker, converts MT5 deals into standard trades, and reconciles your profit and loss.
Which brokers work with automatic sync?
Broker sync works with most MT4/MT5 brokers through MetaAPI, including popular ones such as XM, AvaTrade, FXPro and Pepperstone. Standard MT4/MT5 brokers are supported as well.
Will importing create duplicate trades?
No. When you re-import a file or run another sync, trades that already exist are detected and skipped, so your history stays clean.
Broker sync and account safety
Can TradingJournal place trades or move my money?
No. Broker sync is read-only. TradingJournal imports your trade history and price data only. It cannot open, modify or close trades, and it cannot deposit or withdraw funds. We never ask for withdrawal rights.
Is connecting my account safe?
Your account is connected through MetaAPI, a dedicated MetaTrader connectivity provider. The connection is used to read your trade history and market data so we can build your analytics. It is not used to trade on your behalf.
How often does it sync?
You can sync on demand, and Pro accounts can use auto-sync. Sync runs with rate limits and a daily quota to stay within fair use of the broker connection.

What can I do for free?
The free plan is a serious trading journal: file import, analytics, the trade calendar, playbooks, checklists, the daily journal, the rule engine, discipline basics, the Review Queue (without AI explanations), a weekly stats email, and a preview of Focused What-If analysis.
What do I get with Pro?
Pro turns your structured data into coaching: automatic broker sync, trade charts, the AI Coach, Deep Analysis, AI explanations in the Review Queue, the Weekly AI Coaching Report, the Daily AI Recap, and the full Focused What-If analysis with AI coaching.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro is a subscription managed through Stripe, available monthly or yearly. You can cancel or manage your plan at any time from the customer portal, and you keep access until the end of your billing period.
AI coaching
Does the AI give trading signals or financial advice?
No. The AI never tells you what to buy or sell and does not give financial advice. It reviews your own past trades and journal entries to highlight patterns, discipline issues and areas to work on. It is educational coaching, not trade signals.
What data does the AI use?
The AI is grounded in your own trading history and journal. Its feedback is based on what you actually did, with statistical baselines built from your trades, rather than generic market commentary.
Your data and privacy
Who can see my trading data?
Only you. Each account is isolated, so your trades, notes and analytics are private to your account.
Can I delete my data or my account?
Yes. You can request deletion of your data and account at any time by contacting support@mytradingjournal.io, and we will remove it.
